Bowman Gray, May 30th, 2015, Winston Salem, NC

To everyone who reads my blogs.. I appreciate all that you do and apologize for last weeks difficulties... I had written a blog, and readers weren't able to view it. But for now, I hopefully have fixed this problem and will continue to update you on past, and upcoming events and races.

I did want to let you know that I attended Bowman Gray these past two weekends and had a great time! Thankfully, we got lucky and did not get rained on whatsoever. Lately we have been having some great races here at Bowman, including last weekend (May 30th) with the K&N series taking a spin out there on the track. On Friday, the NASCAR modfieds did race as well as on Saturday before K&N.

Saturday started with great weather, although it was hot! Before practice and qualifying started, I had the chance to walk around the pits where I watched Tech happen as well as meet some drivers. Believe it or not, but if was some of the drivers first time to Bowman Gray! It was great seeing these drivers and learning new material from them as they explained there plans for the race.

During Modified practice, Tim Brown spun out and Burt Myers ran strong. The rest of the drivers seemed to run great.

At 5:45 modified qualifying started. the top 4 fastest cars were car No. 4 with a lap time of 13.248,  car No. 65 with a lap time of 13.272,  car No. 83 with a lap time of 13.324, and car No. 1 with a lap time of 13.384. These boys sure do push it as they try to be the fastest out there!

Next qualifying session was K&N. The top fastest was Scott Heckert with the fastest lap time being 14.449.

The modified race started at 8:00 and the first caution happened on Lap 3 with car No. 00 spun out on turn 2 coming out from the outside and hitting a drain. At this point in time, drivers just seemed to be warming up there tires but with Tim Brown and Burt Myers already pushing for the lead. No other cautions happened until Lap 40 when a car started leaking fluid and oil on the track. Lap 45 cars No's. 51 and 27 spin out coming out from the stretch going into turn 1 and 2. From here on cars seemed to get there rhythm until Lap 82 where car No. 75 spins out onto the field and Lap 86 where car No's. 27, 57 and 77 crashed into the wall at turn 1. Lap 89 was the restart and Tim Brown, car No. 3 wins the race.

K&N started straight after and got off to a good start.  At Lap 56 the top 4 consisted of car No's. 34, 51, 22, and 5. The first caution didn't come out until Lap 62 when car No. 49 was pushed and then crashed into the wall at turn 4. Lap 72 car No's. 49, 45 18, and 3 crashed in turn 1 and 2 and takes a while to clean up. Debris is left on ground and panels were thrown onto the track. There were no more cautions on the track and soon after Scott Heckert won the race!

This weekend, Saturday June 6th, 2015 there will be a PASS race at South Boston in NC. Come join us out there and lets have fun! Like I always say... Pray for great weather! See you soon!

Upcoming events...May 22-24, 2015

Hey there fans!
Just wanted to let you know that Bowman Gray will be this weekend at 8:00 on Saturday, and I will be looking forward to seeing you! In honor of the Alexander family and Baby Declan, Jason Myers helmet will be auctioned off! So buy a raffle ticket for this incredible helmet worn by Jason himself when he won first place in past seasons races. What a great day to come home with your favorite drivers helmet huh?! Donations will also be taken as well, plus you can buy a shirt for 10$ to help fundraise for this family.

For the fans that don't know about Baby Declan... He was born with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. This disease is when the parts of the left side of the heart do not develop. His left side of the heart is blocked which means restricted blood flow. He is being held at the Duke hospital in Raleigh, NC to make sure he is taken care of by the best. Currently Declan has been put on a heart transplant list which could take up to 9 months. There is a 1 year anniversary at Corks Caps and Taps in Downtown Winston Salem at 12:00 to celebrate drivers victories, portions of the money will go to assist this family to take care of Baby Declan.

Also the PASS race at Concord Speedway will be held at Concord Motor Speedway this Friday at 7:00! So get off work early and come on down! Different divisions will be racing and the weather looks good, so it will definitely be a great race! I will be there at the crack of dawn, so if you would like to chat... private message me, or send me a tweet!

Thanks again Y'all! See you soon!

Bowman Gray, May 9th, 2015, Winston Salem NC

Well I hope everyone had a great weekend, like I did! This weekend Bowman Gray was jam packed as usual! Sadly, the weather did take a turn and the race got cancelled... But surely next weekend will be wonderful!

This weekend we had the Krazy Kevin Powell 100, which included the modifieds racing 100 laps, and  the Colors Edge challenge. This challenge was given to the best 4 qualifiers and also given a decision whether or not to accept. If the driver was to accept, he/she would win money depending on position, but if the driver did not accept,  he/she would redraw as well as the other drivers participating in the race.

This got the fans pumped and wilded up! The announcer did a great job at getting the fans involved when asking the driver to accept the challenge or not, as well as those lovely ladies shooting T-shirts out of the gun to the fans!

Unfortunately, because we had the beginning of the tropical storm... We only got through 2 full series, and almost halfway through the Kevin Powell 100 modifieds. After trying to dry the track for several minutes, Bowman Gray decided to call the race for safety reasons.

Although the rain did call the race, the money from the challenge will be doubled next weekend. Keep your head up and pray for no rain next weekend!

Next weekend I will be covering Bowman Gray again, and hope to see many over you there!

Bowman Gray 67th Season

Howdy Yall!

What a dreary day today in North Carolina! Everybody say rain rain go away! Tonight is the 67th season at Bowman Gray Stadium! We hope this rain will pass so we can race tonight!
We will be covering the racetrack from start to finish, so come on down and enjoy! Tickets are 10 dollars!

Todays forecast is heavy rain all day, but there seems to be a break from about 5 in the afternoon to 10 in the evening. The high today is going to 58 degrees and it will lower down into the 40's at about 8:00. So ladies and gentleman wear your coats this evening!!!! Yesterday, April 24th, was a busy day consisting of taking pictures and talking to drivers, and watching qualifications and practices! Boy oh boy does it sound like they are ready to race! Each driver went on the track and practiced until about 6:40 when drivers had to qualify. Jason Myers took the pole last night with the fastest lap being 13.309 followed by Tim Brown in second with his lap time being 13.310, then Brandon Ward third with his lap time being 13.345 and fourth being Burt Myers with lap time of 13.41. Like I said before, we just need this rain to leave!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to get close to one of our fans; Bill Garnett. As I interviewed him, I became more and more interested and had come to found out that he has been enjoying Bowman Gray for 45 years! That's incredible! His favorite drivers are Tim Brown and Lee Jeffreys, and travels down from King every chance he gets to see them race. Yesterday, his son had traveled 5 hours from the coast to watch the race as well! What dedicated fans we have! Mr. Garnett had explained to me that he always had a fascination with racing because his father raced in a Gremlin car when he was younger. Keep it up Mr. Garnett and we hope to see you again soon!

1 YEAR OF RACING!

WOW! How fast has this year flown by? Can you believe Racing season is almost coming to an end? This year has been great so far; learning different racing terms, vocabulary as well as meeting new drivers and experiencing new things! On October 26th, 2014 I will have been covering races for a year! What a great opportunity I have had being only 19 year old in this business! I am so grateful and appreciative of all the people that have got me started  in the racing world, and allowed me to stand by their side, with questions and comments at every race.

This year I have learned about what a "Chute" is, and the terms "Loose" or "Neutral". These terms refer to how the car is handling on the track either around corners, or on the straightaway. I learned about these terms thanks to Robyn Snell while listening to "Julio" Brandon Ward, #62 car spotter on his channel and headphones. I am learning how teams communicate on and off the track and how to keep a solid attitude, and how it is so important to trust one another while driving and making decisions on the car. Brandon's team stays steady with lifted heads in sticky situations. This team shares a bond with each other like no one else.
I have spent most of my time and work focusing on the Pass South Series, and at Bowman Gray Stadium on the NASCAR Modifieds and Bowman Modifieds, and going to tracks in North and South Carolina, and Virginia. Next year I hope to experience Daytona! I also hope to continue covering these races
in the future.I have expanded my social network and met a lot of great people.

When the time comes to cover a race, every employee of each track was kind and warming in welcoming us to their racetrack. Thankfully, there has only been one racetrack where the staff was highly unprofessional and disrespectful.

I have an immense amount of respect for each staff member at every race for all the hard work and effort they put into racing. Each track is based on a clock work schedule, and only is delayed depending on the weather. From the beginning, you are handed information about all divisions, and drivers meet and greet. When drivers have finished practicing and qualifying, you are given sheets on the fastest laps, times and numbers and names of the drivers.

As well as covering races, writing updates on Twitter, and interviewing drivers I will learn how to write and send out proposals to potential sponsors. Recently, the team was so close to landing Brandon Ward a selected sponsor, with the help of my father Jason Rowlands. My father produced renderings and the color scheme of the car so the sponsor could see firsthand what they were getting into, and how the car could possibly look when on the racetrack. My father works in the design department at Volvo and Mack trucks in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Sadly this year with the unfortunate event involving  Tony Stewart, racing was turned upside down. I am extremely impressed with the new rule NASCAR announced, and am proud to say smaller tracks are involved as well. Since this event, I have seen medical personnel quickly respond  to any accident.
Since October last year, I have started my second year at Forsyth Technical College, where I hope to obtain a double majored degree in Sports Marketing and Communications with a minor in Spanish. I am taking 15 credit hours this year, and I have not fully decided on transferring to a four year college or to stay at Forsyth.Tech by Fall semester, 2015. As well as going to school, I work at Hallmark where I work 23 hours maximum.... So if you need cards and knick knacks.. I am your gal!

When I am finished with school, I strive to land a career in NASCAR, and be the best that I can be as "FAMOUS AIMEE"

I would like to give a special thanks to Robyn Snell as she has been my backbone and excellent person to learn from. Thank you for answering all my questions and helping me. I  enjoy spending time with you, I could not have been luckier with this opportunity all thanks to you. You are a wonderful person filled with joy and kindness.I would also like to give a special thanks to Alan Piquette, who gave me the opportunity to be a part of  TheRacingTimes magazine. Thank you for getting me into the races with no problem and just for being an awesome person. I hope you also are feeling better! I also would like to thank Brandon Ward and his team, and staff at all racetracks.

WHAT A GREAT SEASON SO FAR!
